Macdonald Hotels & Resorts is investing £850,000 into an extensive bedroom refurbishment for two of its Lake District hotels

The renovations have already begun on the two hotels and will include improvements to bedrooms and suits, as part of an ongoing investment programme across the group to improve guest experience.

The revamp to the Macdonald Old England Hotel & Spa, in Windermere, will cost £500,000 and is due to be completed in March. The investment will be used to 25 of the hotel’s bedrooms and four of its suites.

Macdonald Leeming House in Ullswater will also get a £350,000 investment to completely refurbish 34 rooms following previous improvements to six bedrooms in 2013.

Edward Cross, regional managing director at Macdonald Old England Hotel & Spa, said: “We have had a phenomenal trading year and are delighted to receive this investment so that we can further enhance the experiences of our guests and offer some of the best accommodation in the Lake District.

“Our upgraded suites will offer a luxurious and special stay, perfect for bridal suites and special occasions.

“Not only will the investment help to enhance the hotels but will also help to boost the tourism economy in this stunning area of the country.”
