Almost three quarters of Britons believe a ‘staycation’ offers better value for money compared to a holiday abroad, according to research conducted by hotel group Jurys Inn

The study of 3,063 people found that 67% of Britons think that a staycation is the best way to explore a city for a fraction of the price of a holiday abroad. Despite this, a fifth (22%) of those surveyed had visited more landmarks abroad than in the UK.

As a result of the research, Jurys Inn has launched a staycation guide showcasing a wide range of attractions and locations to explore in the UK in an effort to help holidaymakers make the most of a UK break.

Suzanne Cannon, marketing manager at the hotel group, said “We’ve noticed the trend in Brits choosing to stay at home for their summer break and we want to be able to help travellers to explore a city’s true potential.

“As Jurys Inn hotels are conveniently positioned in the heart of key cities across the UK, it’s great place to start a staycation, so we’re glad we can share some insights with those who are holidaying at home this year.”

Jurys Inn, which was acquired by US investment firm Lone Star Funds in a deal worth £680m earlier this year, currently operates 31 hotels, including 28 under the Jurys Inn brand, two under the DoubleTree by Hilton brand and one under the Garden Inn by Hilton brand.
