Manchester Hoteliers Association awards local hoteliers

The Manchester Hoteliers Association (MHA) has given awards to ten hoteliers across the region, in its twelfth annual hotel award ceremony.

The awards, which took place on Friday, 30 October, saw more than 620 guests attend and awards were given out in a range of categories including front of house, rising stars, top team and mentor of the year.

Andrew Jones, operations and finance director at The Lowry Hotel, was presented with the most prestigious accolade of the night – The Howard Raynor Lifetime Achievement award – for his long service and devotion to the industry.

The ceremony included a gala dinner which saw members of the association raising a record amount of money (£38,0000) for charity. The money was given to the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital, Hospitality Action and The Booth Centre.

Paul Bayliss, chair of the MHA, said: “Every member of the MHA plays their part in delivering first class hospitality in our region and so it’s vital we amplify each hotel and their people by recognising their contribution.

“It is vital we maintain this activity and continue to develop and learn as an important sector so that the Manchester region grows as it is thriving presently but we need to maintain this for the long-term.”
