Hub by Premier Inn set for expansion

In this episode we speak to Anthony Hunt, partner and co-head of Corporate Real Estate at law firm Howard Kennedy. We discuss why 2026 may be seen as a pivotal year for boutique hotels, unpack the rise of global nomadism and how this is shaping demand and trends across hospitality, and how a strong team and clear, consistent messaging and offerings are key to securing investment.

Hub by Premier Inn, the technology-focused city centre budget brand, has announced it is to expand with a further 13 new properties in London and Edinburgh.

Following the success of its first hotel in Covent Garden, which opened a year ago, the brand’s owner Whitbread has secured a further 13 sites – 10 in London and three in Edinburgh.

The second Hub by Premier Inn is due to open later this month in London’s Tower Bridge, with further launches planned for Brick Lane, King’s Cross, Westminster and Royal Mile in Edinburgh.

The technology-focused brand allows users to book the hotel, check-in, control lighting and change room temperature by using an app on their Android, iPhone or Apple Watch.

Nearly 60,000 guests have stayed at the brand since it opened last November, with an occupancy rate of over 90%.

Simon Ewins, chief operating officer, said: “We are so proud of what Hub by Premier Inn has achieved in its first year. We always knew that the demand was there for a brand that offered stylish and connected rooms, in the heart of the city at an affordable price.

“We are so excited about expanding the brand with further investment in London and Edinburgh in the coming months.

“Our key focus in the design and build of the next Hub by Premier Inn hotels will be how we move the brand forwards and expand our offering – we are looking at even more digitally enabled smart TVs which allow mirror screening and a new bigger room type as a starting point.”
