Café Royal set for December re-opening

In this episode we speak to Anthony Hunt, partner and co-head of Corporate Real Estate at law firm Howard Kennedy. We discuss why 2026 may be seen as a pivotal year for boutique hotels, unpack the rise of global nomadism and how this is shaping demand and trends across hospitality, and how a strong team and clear, consistent messaging and offerings are key to securing investment.

Iconic London institution Café Royal will be launched as a luxury hotel this coming December.

Located on Regent Street, Café Royal is a destination that has managed to capture the mood and style of the capital throughout its 150-year history.

Former patrons include Oscar Wilde, Virginia Woolf, Cary Grant, Elizabeth Taylor, Winston Churchill and Muhammad Ali.

Over the past four years, the old Café Royal restaurant has been transformed into a contemporary hotel and restored to its former grandeur by David Chipperfield architects.

The hotel will feature 159 rooms and suites, dining venues, a private members’ club, meeting rooms and a spa and gym, complete with 18 metre pool. Homage is paid to the architectural heritage of the building across the hotel through its interiors.

Café Royal is the second member of Alfred and Georgi Akirov’s new hotel collection ‘The Set’.
