Hotel guests ranked their top hotel pet peeves

Inadequate control over room temperature is the number one bugbear for hotel guests, according to a recent consumer survey by hospitality designer and lighting supplier Lyco.

A lack of cleanliness, uncomfortable beds and problems with the WiFi were also named as some of the annoyances faced by patrons.

  • Not being able to control room temperature
  • General lack of cleanliness
  • Uncomfortable bed
  • Expensive / slow WiFi
  • Outside noise
  • No bedside lights
  • Badly positioned / poorly lit mirror
  • Low water pressure in shower or bath
  • Light flooding in from window or under door at night
  • Not enough cupboard or wardrobe space[/box]

Charles Barnett, managing director of Lyco, said: “Aside from not being able to tackle the ‘outside noise’ issue, the solutions to most of these problems are easily within a hotelier’s control and could be resolved.

“Admittedly some are quicker fixes than others, but with patrons very ready to go online and complain, it would be prudent to at least address the less costly matters in the short term.”
