Five-star Blythswood Square Hotel in Glasgow city centre has an added buzz thanks to the arrival of 180,000 new guests.
Executive head chef, Zoltan Szabo, has instructed for three beehives to be installed on the roof of the hotel in a bid to help the environment and make honey.
The hotel will also be raffling off a large jar to aid Glasgow Children’s Hospital.
Szabo said: “I am delighted to welcome the bees to our hotel and many of our guests have already enjoyed the honey coming directly from these hives.
“I am also thrilled we are able to contribute to the local environment in such a positive way as well as supporting the work of Glasgow’s Children’s Hospital in the run up to Christmas.”
He added: “Honey is the only food to contain ‘pinocembrin’ which is an antioxidant that improves brain function. It is contains all of the substances needed to sustain life, including enzymes, water, minerals and vitamins so I am very honoured to be featuring this produce in our menus across the day.”
