BWH Hotel Group names Tim Rumney as CEO

Rumney has operated three hotels in Best Western brands over more than 20 years including The Castle Green Hotel in Kendal and The Best Western Plus Pinewood Hotel in Wilmslow

BWH Hotel Group GB, which incorporates Best Western Great Britain and WorldHotels Great Britain, has appointed hotelier and hospitality professional Tim Rumney as CEO, after serving as interim CEO since August.

Rumney replaces outgoing CEO Rob Paterson, who had been in post since 2017, and began his tenure representing BWH Hotel Group Great Britain at the BWH Hotel Group International meeting this month.

Having served as chairman of the BWH Hotel Group board of directors for four years and director since 2009, the group said Rumney has been “at the heart of the organisation” during a “significant period of expansion and change”.

Rumney has operated three hotels in Best Western brands over more than 20 years including The Castle Green Hotel in Kendal and The Best Western Plus Pinewood Hotel in Wilmslow.

According to BWH, Rumney has over 30 years’ experience in the hospitality industry including holding senior positions with Forte Hotels in London and the provinces.

Rumney said: “I am thrilled to take on the position of CEO full time at BWH Hotel Group GB, in a time of great challenge and great opportunity for the hospitality industry.

“We have a fantastic team in BWH Hotel Group GB and our purchasing organisation Beacon and I look forward to working with our hotel members and other stakeholders in driving and developing the business as we recover from the impact of the pandemic.”
