Mark Gallagher has been appointed general manager at the Crowne Plaza Glasgow, a 283-bedroom hotel operated by Valor Hospitality Europe.

Gallagher brings almost 25 years of experience in the hospitality sector to the position, having previously managed hotels in both Glasgow and London as well as working in a central operations role.

As the former head of the Glasgow Hotelier’s Association, he is a prominent industry figure in the region having also been part of Team Glasgow’s successful bid for the 2014 Commonwealth Games.

Crowne Plaza Glasgow offers conference space for up to 800 people, as well as on-site spa and fitness facilities. The hotel benefits from its connections to the city centre and Glasgow Airport.

Gallagher said: “Valor Hospitality Europe has a tremendous reputation in the industry for embracing the brands they operate, and this contributed to my decision to join the team. Crowne Plaza Glasgow has always been one of my favourite hotels, and its proximity to the SEC Campus provides new challenges and opportunities.

“I’ll be ensuring that we focus on our guests, our people and our brand, whilst sticking to Valor’s values and belief in ‘doing the simple things brilliantly’.”

Brian McCarthy, managing director at Valor Hospitality Europe, added: “Mark is well-known in Glasgow’s hotel sector and his widespread expertise and connections are a hugely valuable asset to both the Crowne Plaza and Valor teams.

“It’s important that we retain and attract the very best team members for our hotels as I’m a firm believer that talent attracts talent, and under Mark’s leadership, I have no doubt that the Crowne Plaza Glasgow will continue to go from strength to strength.”

Valor Hospitality Europe currently manages 17 hotels across the UK including hotels under brands including Hilton, IHG and Marriott.
