Solent Hotel and Spa has announced it has appointed Nathan Chart as its new general manager.

With “extensive experience” in sales and marketing roles across the hospitality industry, the hotel said Chart has also carved out an “impressive” career in management, working across the Legacy Hotel and Resorts portfolio.

It added that Chart also brings with him a strong record of profit growth, employee development and a dedication to enhanced customer service. Alongside his new role, he will continue to Chair the Southampton Region Hoteliers Association.

The hotel, which is owned by Daniel Thwaites, is a four-star hotel which boasts a spa, restaurant, and 117 contemporary rooms.

Chart said: “I am really proud and excited to take on the role of general manager at Solent Hotel and Spa because, although I have moved around the country in various hospitality roles, I have always been interested in what the Solent was doing.

“It’s a huge operation consisting of two hotels, a pub, an outdoor dining concept and an award-winning spa, making Solent a stand-out offering in the South of England. The hotel is wonderfully positioned in a fantastic region and I’m very fortunate to be able to take over the management of Solent as it enters an exciting period.”

He added: “Daniel Thwaites is a family-owned, welcoming business and I’ve had a wonderful introduction to its award-winning property portfolio. The onboarding process has been second to none and having the opportunity to travel around the other stunning hotels, spas and inns meeting the teams has provided me with great insight.

“Daniel Thwaites reinvests profits into developing the business, so in the coming years we’re looking forward to completing the bedroom refurbishment project, developing the Meadow Bar – our al fresco offering, and investing in our team members so that they can progress their careers in hospitality. Ultimately, we’re intent on making the Solent Hotel and Spa a destination for all in the south.”
