New owners are set to acquire Woodside Guest House, a Victorian-period guest house in Keswick, after it was brought to market for offers in the region of £675,000.
The site sits in a high-profile trading position in the Cumbrian market town in the heart of the Lake District National Park. The property includes five-letting bedrooms, a breakfast room for 12 covers, private gardens, car park and separate two-bedroom owners’ accommodation.
Originally built in 1895 for one of the spinster sisters of the Bobbin Mill, Woodside Guest House has traded as a bed and breakfast since 2015, under the hands of Jennifer and Nikos Karampatis.
After enjoying seven years at the helm, the owners have decided to retire to live near family in Greece. The period guest house has been acquired by Hannah Richardson and BJ (Bart-Jan) Bekker, who both have a background working for charities.
Richardson said: “We have been looking forward to moving to Keswick to start our new venture at Woodside. The wonderful property has everything that we were hoping for and buying it has fulfilled a dream of ours! We are excited to take over the successful business built up by Jennifer and Nikos and to welcome their regulars and many new guests.”
Haydn Spedding, consultant in the Hotel Agency team at Colliers, who handled the sale, added: “Woodside Guest House is without a doubt one of the nicest guest houses of its size that we have had the pleasure to market in Keswick for a while. I am really looking forward to seeing how the business develops in the hands of new owners Hannah and Bart-Jan and wish them all the best for their future.
“This sale is one of several guests houses that Colliers has sold over the last 12 months. This last year has been exceptionally busy, completing over 21 hotels and guest house sales so far. Keswick particularly is an area of high demand for buyers, and we are seeking similar properties to bring to the market.”
