The Inn Collection Group has revealed it has started renovations at three Lake District inns in order to breathe new life into The Wateredge Inn, The Waterhead Inn and The Angel Inn.
The Newcastle-based pubs with rooms operator began the third of these sympathetic revamps on Monday (17 October) as contractors moved into The Waterhead Inn, with national architects GSSArchitecture appointed as architects and principal designers on the schemes.
GSSArchitecture are leading the redevelopment plans on the three sites, with The Wateredge Inn and The Angel Inn grade II listed buildings in the World Heritage Site.
The group said all three sites will benefit from careful refurbishments with new bars and restaurants, improved accessibility, and higher quality guest accommodation.
In addition to the Lake District Inns, the Park Hotel in Tynemouth also recently started on site, with main contractors STP Construction working on the refurbishment.
Plans for the North Tyneside property include the construction of a two-storey extension in order to add an additional 20 bedrooms at the site. Additionally, a single storey extension will house a new fish and chip takeaway, ice cream parlour and bar area, whilst the external facades, seating and landscaping will undergo comprehensive refurbishment to improve the overall appearance and experience for guests of the Inn.
Louise Stewart, property director at The Inn Collection Group, said: “We are delighted to be working with GSSArchitecture and bringing their expertise to the refurbishment of these much-loved Inns. They are iconic sites that we are excited to have brought into group and we are confident guests will love them once they are ready to welcome people back through their doors.
“It is important to us that our renovations bring our own identity but at the same time are respectful of these iconic properties’ heritage and working with GSSArchitecture will help achieve that at these Inns.”
