Inhabit Hotels has announced its flagship property, Inhabit Southwick Street, has achieved B Corp certification.
It also claimed it is “one of the first hotels” in London to achieve the certification and the certification “marks Inhabit Hotels’ dedication to guests, employees, social enterprises and the environment”.
The brand has been through a “rigorous” assessment process of its operations and business model across the five impact areas, which are: customers, community, environment, workers and governance and has received verified scores on its B Impact Assessment.
The new B Corp status follows Inhabit Southwick Street’s Green Key certification award back in 2020, achieved just a few months after opening.
Inhabit opened its flagship Southwick Street site in 2019, which comprises 88 guest rooms, a restaurant and a wellbeing space which offers yoga and other mindful activities.
A second site, Inhabit Queen’s Gardens, opened last summer in Bayswater, London.
Inhabit Queen’s Garden is home to 158 guest bedrooms, a restaurant and a spa and wellness centre which is located on the lower ground floor and offers treatments from GAIA.
The hotel brand said that since its launch, its properties have monitored its supply chain, environmental footprint and have had a desire to create social impact.
The group also works with local suppliers, including London-based workshop Goldfinger, a social enterprise which produces bespoke furniture items and educates disadvantaged young people on woodwork through its academy.
Nadira and Rahim Lalji, Inhabit Hotels co-founders, said: “This is a huge milestone for Inhabit and our first property, further strengthening our vision to be a brand that strives for change for good.
“We believe in enhancing green initiatives, reducing consumption levels and being a
responsible business for all stakeholders. This latest impact report and certification from B Corp is just the beginning. It is a huge achievement to join the community with over 6,500 other like-minded brands and be part of this crucial movement.”
