North Cornwall’s Bay View Inn, an award-winning coastal family retreat overlooking Widemouth Bay, has been brought to market.
The six-bedroom hotel and restaurant has become known as a family-friendly holiday venue in the region, since it was taken over by Lindsay and Graham Soulsby and Stuart Shaw in 2017. The trio purchased the property to fulfil their ambition of living and working in their favourite holiday destination along the Cornish coast.
Throughout their five-year tenure they have undertaken an “extensive programme” of renovation and enlargement of the original structure, letting rooms and guest facilities.
The property has also undergone several eco-efficient upgrades, with the addition of a biomass boiler, solar heating panels and an overhaul of electrical services.
The current owners said: “We’ve thoroughly enjoyed the last five years – why wouldn’t we, this is our favourite place in the world. The business is ideally set up for the new owners to take it to an even higher standard, we hope they relish the journey as much as we have.”
Nicholas Calfe, director in Christie and Co’s South West Hotel team, who is handling the marketing process, said: “This is a unique opportunity to acquire a well-invested and profitable boutique hotel, which boasts an idyllic location along the popular Cornish coast. Widemouth Bay is renowned for its speculator coastline, Blue Flag beach, stunning sunsets and active surfing all year round and the foundations are in place for new owners to take full advantage of the significant investment to the property.
“However the site still offers plenty of scope for future development, subject to the necessary planning consents, so we anticipate wide-ranging interest.”
