Irish hotel operator Dalata Group has announced its plans to upgrade the extension of its Clayton Hotel on Cardiff Lane in Dublin’s docklands in an investment worth €22m (£19.4m).
News of the projects comes as the company posted a planning notice to revise a planning approval and upgrade redevelopment plans at the Cardiff Lane hotel close to the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre.
According to the notice, Dalata plans to add 117 bedrooms to the venue which currently has a total of 304 rooms, with further plans for the extension to take over 10 different floors.
In August 2019, Dublin City Council granted permission to Dalata for a more “modest” expansion of the Clayton Hotel Cardiff Lane.
Dalata operates 50 hotels across Ireland, the UK and Germany, employing nearly 5,500 staff.
In addition, the group recently revealed that its revenues had increased to €558.3m (£489.9m) for 2022, an increase from €192m (£169m) in the previous year.
Dalata also posted a €109.7m (£97m) profit in 2022, after Covid-19 contributed to an €11.4m (£10m) loss in 2021.
