Lomond Hills Hotels brought to market following liquidation

The former Lomond Hills Hotel in Fife, Scotland, has been brought to market for an undisclosed sum after it was placed into liquidation earlier this year. Located at the foot of the Lomond Hills in Freuchie, the 18th Century converted coaching inn had been trading for almost 300 years and was a popular venue for weddings and events. The property features 24 bedrooms, a popular restaurant and public bar which served over 52 malt whiskies and two quality real ales, along with two function suites and a leisure centre with a pool gym, sauna and spa. Specialist hotel property adviser, Christie & Co, has been appointed by joint liquidators, Ken Pattullo and Kenny Craig of Begbies Traynor, to market the site. Gary Witham, director in Christie & Co’s Scottish Hospitality team, said: “This is an exceptional opportunity to create a hotel and leisure hub in an attractive village setting. The substantial building offers high quality leisure and hospitality facilities and we look forward to securing a new owner, to get this historic hotel back up and running.” The historic hotel was placed into liquidation and ceased to trade, with all 17 staff made redundant on 6 March 2023. Challenges related to the cost of living crisis and Covid-19 were cited amongst the reasons for the village hotel’s liquidation. Thomas McKay, partner at Begbies Traynor in Scotland, said: “We have recently launched the hotel for sale through our selling agent Christie & Co and hope the hotel will again be able to operate in the hands of new owners soon. The hotel is central to the local community and has been for a long time. We anticipate there’ll be a positive reaction from interested parties during the open marketing process.”
