SWG3, the owner of an independent music and arts venue in Glasgow, has launched an online consultation over “ambitious” new plans for the proposed SWG3 Hotel project at the site.
A proposal of application notice was submitted to Glasgow City Council last month which signalled the group’s intent to submit an application for planning permission. The group said that opening online feedback is part of pre-application consultation before a planning application is submitted to Glasgow City Council this Autumn.
The 139-bedroom hotel will feature two restaurants, two bars, co-working spaces, a gym and movement studio, and a rooftop terrace. SWG3 said that “as a company with sustainability at its heart, the hotel will be no different – with waste reduction methods and energy efficiency already included in the plans”.
Working alongside architect and designer Stallan-Brand, the new development will aim to transform currently abandoned land and “act as the next step in our ambitious regeneration efforts to transform the Clydeside and surrounding areas into a cultural hotspot”.
Andrew Mickel, SWG3 director, said: “Our vision for the SWG3 hotel is to deliver a brand new welcoming space for all creative souls to stay. A unique new location for nurturing art, music and creative magic wrapped in cutting edge design.
“Since transforming the Galvanizers Yard and disused warehouses into one of the country’s most talked about arts venues, the SWG3 team have continued to invest heavily in the community, and this project will be no different. We hope to not only deliver economic growth for the Clydeside, Yorkhill and Glasgow as a whole, but prove that good business can be sustainable and socially conscious as well as simply great fun.”
Regarding the consultation, the company said: “We are inviting the local community and other stakeholders to review our emerging proposals before a planning application is submitted to Glasgow City Council. We would very much welcome your feedback and comments.
“To assist, we have prepared a short feedback form which seeks to gather the views of those participating in the consultation. Your feedback will help to inform our eventual planning submission to Glasgow City Council.”
