The Cathedral Hotel in Salisbury has been sold to a local investor for an undisclosed amount after a period of closure.
The Cathedral Hotel is a mid-terraced, three story property comprising a public house on the ground floor and first floor and hotel with 22 bedrooms on the third and fourth floors. The property sits within a plot of approximately 0.16 acres with a patio garden area to the rear.
The new owner said they plan to make a “significant” investment to bring the Cathedral Hotel up to modern standards, including a rooftop terrace with panoramic views of the Salisbury skyline, subject to planning permission.
As the building is listed Grade 2, there will be “comprehensive” discussions with the city’s conservation officers to ensure the hotel’s many historic features, including its central staircase, are retained and sensitively restored.
Chris Bickle, director in the licenced leisure team at Savills, who handled the sale, said: “We are delighted to secure new owners for The Cathedral Hotel which has been closed since July 2022.
“The new owners have exciting plans to bring this property back into hospitality use for the benefit of the local community. The sale reinforces the demand for commercial assets with strong underlying property fundamentals in the South West.”
Woolley and Wallis represented the purchaser.
