The former 27-bedroom Cooriedoon Nursing Home in Arran, Whiting Bay, has been brought to market for offers over £650k.
The property, which is a late Victorian mansion that was initially built as the Whiting Bay Hotel, still has potential to be reconfigured as a hotel, multiple holiday lets, an Airbnb, aparthotel or guest house.
Located in a secluded and elevated location far enough from the road, the potential hotel will also benefit from views encompassing the beach, the Firth of Clyde, and the Holy Isle.
The property’s accommodation is arranged over three floors and consists of 27 bedrooms, accessible by a lift or stairs, some with en-suite facilities.
In addition, the property has a multitude of other rooms previously used as communal or staff spaces, including living rooms, two kitchens, lounge rooms, a dining room, staff rooms, offices, and various store rooms, a laundry, and WCs, with the public rooms and kitchens offering potential for conversion.
Cooriedoon is set in “generous” grounds, boasting a rooftop balcony and extensive parking in a private driveway.
Finally, tourist attractions include Arran Aromatics, Arran Heritage Museum, Lochranza Distillery and Brodick Castle. There are seven golf courses on the island, with Cooriedoon ideally positioned for easy access to Whiting Bay Golf Club.
Anthony Zdanowicz, Ayr commercial property associate at DM Hall, said: “Arran property is in huge demand and Cooriedoon’s configuration would also allow for conversion into apartments and two terraced houses.
“The opportunities are almost endless and the new owner will have creative scope to elevate this beautiful property and use it to its full potential.”
