Conrad London St James appoints F&B director

In this episode we speak to brothers Alex and Adrien Grosjean, young entrepreneurs who have recently acquired The Residence Inn by Marriott Manchester Piccadilly. We discussed the reasons why Manchester’s visitor market is booming, and their decision to invest in this area, why they see extended-stay accommodation as a major opportunity in what is one of the UK's fastest-growing cities, how they plan to enhance their portfolio of hotels, and their advice for the next generation of hospitality disruptors.

Conrad London St James has announced the appointment of Joan Rull Moreno as the new director of food and beverage

Moreno joins the hotel from Canopy by Hilton Madrid Castellana and brings leadership experience from across a number of hotel companies in Spain and Belgium, which he acquired over the past 10 years.

Previously, he has worked as an F&B director for six years, and has also overseen an independent one Michelin-starred restaurant and a three Michelin-starred restaurant within a hotel.

Moreno has taken on this role after “significant” investment in F&B at the hotel, culminating in the opening of the Blue Boar Pub and multi-award-winning The Pem, a fine-dining restaurant opened under chef Sally Abé in 2021.

The hotel also offers a revamped lounge and cocktail bar, The Hedgerow, and an afternoon tea offering in the Orchard Room.

In his new role, Moreno will be responsible for overseeing over 150 people in the F&B team to give every hotel guest and visitor “a unique and personalised visit that offers a diverse British gastronomic experience that could only come from staying at Conrad London St. James”.

Moreno said: “Our primary goal is to establish ourselves as a gastronomic icon in town, offering a 365° experience for everything from unique fine dining to meetings and luxury events. This comprehensive approach spans our bars and restaurants, including our in-room dining experiences for staying guests.

“Conrad London St. James is in an incredible location, at the heart of major British institutions from Royalty to Government, and we want to reflect this sense of Britishness at every level. This is a beautiful project; London is a competitive international market, and I love challenges!”
