Choice Hotels has announced the opening of its new flagship hotel in Windsor, Surrey.

Four-star hotel and spa the Harte & Garter is an amalgamation of two 14th Century inns, and has been named the centrepiece of the Clarion Collection portfolio.

The 98-room hotel is located 100 meters away from Windsor Central Station, and seven miles away from London Heathrow Airport. It also has seven meeting rooms with a capacity for 260.

General manager Andrew Lee said: “We are pleased to be known as [a] Clarion Collection hotel and to provide an excellent four-star hotel offering to both leisure travellers wishing to explore historical Windsor and business travellers who want ease of access to Heathrow and commercial centres along the M4.”

Duncan Berry, UK chief executive of Choice Hotels Europe, said: “We are delighted to welcome [the hotel] to Choice Hotels’ global network of over 6,300 hotels.”

Clarion Collection hotels are period properties and are often housed in historical buildings with surrounding gardens and grounds.

Other hotels recently added to Choice’s UK portfolio include Comfort Inn Manchester North, the first Choice brand hotel in the North West city, and Comfort Inn Westminster, located in London’s Belgravia area.
