Scalford Country House Hotel brought to market for £3m

The building was originally built at the beginning of the 20th Century and later converted into an 81-bedroom hotel

Scalford Country House Hotel has been brought to market for OIRO for £3.25m.

The mansion house, which was originally built at the beginning of the 20th Century and later converted into an 81-bedroom hotel, has been owned by the Singh family since 2018.

While not currently operating, the hotel was previously a popular wedding and conference venue. The site features Edwardian architecture as well as landscaped grounds and “picturesque” views of the countryside.

Its function rooms are able to seat up to 150 people, while a 600-capacity marquee can be placed in the eight acres of ground. There are also five additional staff rooms.

According to Colliers, the business “offers ample opportunity for creative management and refurbishment which would help to generate a strong multiple-channel revenue stream”.

The hotel is located just five minutes drive from the town of Melton Mowbray, and less than 30 minutes from the cities of Leicester, Nottingham and Grantham. Local attractions include Belton House, Belvoir Castle, Twinlakes Park and Grantham Designer Outlet Village which is due to open in 2025.

Josh Sullivan, associate director at Colliers, who is handling the sale, said: “The Scalford Country House Hotel is a classically Edwardian-period house steeped in history and previously a popular venue for leisure, wedding and business guests.

“Due to its proximity to Melton Mowbray the site offers a number of value-add opportunities in the form of a repositioning of the existing asset or some form of planning gain and change of use, subject to the relevant permissions.’’
