Leonardo Hotels UK and Ireland has announced the acquisition of the Hotel Gotham in Manchester, which it said marks a “significant milestone” in Leonardo Hotels’ strategic growth plan.
In the heart of Manchester, the Hotel Gotham was originally designed in 1928 by Edward Lutyens as the headquarters for The Midland Bank. With 60 bedrooms, including five unique inner sanctum suites, it includes the two AA Rosettes panoramic restaurant, Honey, and Club Brass, the rooftop private bar and members club.
The Hotel Gotham Manchester will join the Leonardo Limited Edition collection of hotels, which features properties such as The Dilly Hotel in London’s Piccadilly, acquired by the group in 2022; The Grand in Brighton, acquired in 2023; and the Midland Hotel in Manchester, acquired in 2018.
This acquisition was made through the Fattal Partnership Fund.
Jason Curruthers, MD of Leonardo Hotels UK and Ireland, said: “We are delighted to welcome the Hotel Gotham in Manchester to the Leonardo Hotels portfolio. This property aligns perfectly with our vision to provide exceptional guest experiences. This acquisition further strengthens our presence in key city centre destinations and underscores our dedication to delivering unparalleled service and quality to our guests.”
Ronen Nissenbaum, CEO Leonardo Hotels UK, Ireland, Benelux, Spain, Portugal and US Development, added: “The acquisition of the Hotel Gotham is a significant milestone in our growth strategy, reinforcing our commitment to becoming one of the fastest-growing hotel groups in Europe. This addition enhances our portfolio with an iconic hotel destination, further supporting our ambitious plans. We continue to source similar high-end hotel opportunities across the UK and Ireland and the rest of Europe, which is brimming with investment potential.”
