Budget hotel chain Travelodge has opened two hotels in Gainsborough and Lincoln, Lincolnshire, this November in celebration of 30 years of trading in the area.
The first hotel, Gainsborough Travelodge, was opened on 2 November by the mayor of Gainsborough, councillor Richard Craig and Travelodge district manager, Alison Barr. Situated opposite Marshall’s Yard, the property is a purpose built 56-room hotel and represents an investment of £4m from landlord Dransfield Properties.
The other hotel the group is opening in the county is situated in Lincoln City Centre, right next to the railway station. It is the company’s new flagship hotel in Lincolnshire and its second hotel in the city. The hotel represents an investment of £14m for third party investors.
Allison Barr, Travelodge district manager said: “We are delighted to mark our 30th anniversary of trading in Lincolnshire by opening two prestigious hotels in the county, one in Gainsborough and the other in Lincoln City Centre. These two new additions will boost our Lincolnshire portfolio to 10 hotels and make Travelodge the county’s largest branded hotel chain.”
She added: “Gainsborough Travelodge, the town’s first branded hotel will certainly help attract new business and leisure visitors to the area, which is great news for the local economy. As research shows annually Travelodge customers will spend £2 million with local businesses during their stay.”
