Britannia has been rated the “worst hotel chain” in the UK for the sixth year running by respondents to a Which? Travel survey, in which almost a quarter of guests said they had made an “official complaint” about their stay.
According to an annual survey by the group, the budget brand had a customer score of 35%, with 42% of Britannia guests saying they “had a problem” with their stay and the majority (71%) saying they were left “dissatisfied with the outcome”.
Meanwhile, Premier Inn has been named the best-rated UK hotel chain, which topped the table for the fourth year running with a customer score of 79%. Guests rated the chain five stars for cleanliness, the comfort of its beds and customer service.
Rory Boland, Which? Travel editor, said: “Britannia has superb locations, fabulous buildings, but terrible hotels. Guests looking for a safe bet, with no nasty surprises, should opt for a no-nonsense option like Premier Inn.”
