Queens Court Hotel, a profitable hotel opportunity in Exeter, has been sold to existing hoteliers the Harries-Jones family for an undisclosed sum.The Grade II listed Georgian-era property is situated in a quiet leafy square within Exeter’s city centre, just a short walk from both Exeter St David’s and Central Train Stations.
The hotel features 20 guest rooms and currently operates as a bed and breakfast, as the former restaurant on site has been closed since 2020. The property also includes a lounge bar and function suite.
The hotel has been sold by K Balendran, who originally purchased the hotel in 2015.
The new purchasers own and operate The Galaxie Hotel in Oxford and will be adding Queens Court Hotel to their family run business.
New owner Charlie Harries-Jones said: “We are delighted to announce the purchase of Queens Court Hotel. This is the first step in our growth strategy to provide differentiated hotel accommodation in regional cities across the UK. We look forward to working with the current management team and would like to thank those who have helped us secure this transaction.”
Stephen Champion, director in the South West Hotels team at Christie and Co, who handled the sale, added: “Queens Court Hotel generated significant interest when it was launched to the market resulting in competitive bidding from multiple parties and a sale price in excess of the advertised asking price.
“We are delighted to have acted for our client on the sale, with Christie and Co also having previously brokered the sale of the hotel in 2005 and 2015. We wish the Harries-Jones’ every success with their new business acquisition.”
