Nico spoke about founding the group alongside his longtime friend Gareth, having had a vision for bringing more nature spaces to cities, the planned extension of The Buxton in Spitalfields, and how the site’s storytelling engages guests and the local community, how the Culpeper Family’s core sustainability ethos helped it secure its B-Corp status and why hospitality has a responsibility to educate and innovate when it comes to sustainability.

Hyatt has announced the opening of Park Hyatt London River Thames, marking the debut of the Park Hyatt brand in the UK.

The hotel, located in the South West location of Nine Elms, will offer 203 guestrooms and will feature views of London’s skyline.

At a short distance from Battersea Power Station, the hotel sits between more than 200 acres of green space at Battersea Park and a number of cultural attractions, such as Tate Britain.

The interiors offer a “contemporary interpretation” of classic English style with bespoke artisanal details. The neutral and muted design is complemented with colour accents and artwork pieces, such as the Charlie Whinney’s installation at the hotel’s entrance inspired by the river Thames.

The guestrooms feature floor-to-ceiling windows and wallpapered walls featuring designs by English textile designer William Morris, complemented by a scheme of white and ebony, with accents of leather and brass throughout.

The hotel will also offer different dining experiences, such as The Nine Elms Kitchen and Terrace, with dishes paying homage to London’s culture, The Nine Elms Bar and Lounge, and the Tamisé Tea Lounge and Wine Library – all overseen by executive chef Fabrice Lasnon, who brings over 35 years of experience in culinary settings.

A new Cantonese restaurant is also expected to open later this year.

An entire floor is dedicated to rejuvenation, featuring a spa with panoramic river views, natural light, and an expansive layout. Guests can also enjoy a 1,550 sq ft state-of-the-art fitness centre, an indoor pool, six luxurious treatment rooms, and a relaxation lounge.

In addition, the hotel has 14,337 sq ft of meeting space, including one of the largest ballrooms to open in central London since 1929, with the ability to host 830 guests. An additional seven meeting rooms can also be opened to form one larger space and connect to an expansive foyer.

Rike Erdbrink, general manager, Park Hyatt London River Thames, said: “Bringing the flagship Park Hyatt to life has been a privilege. This hotel embodies understated luxury, where personalised service and a warm atmosphere create a true sense of home and belonging in London.

“With its central location and thoughtful design, the hotel positions London in a new light, primes to accommodate discerning travellers looking for elevated experiences.”

Javier Águila, group president EAME, Hyatt, added: “The opening of Park Hyatt London River Thames is a testament to our continued commitment to expanding our luxury brand offering across Europe, Africa and the Middle East.

“Sustaining this momentum is key to our goal of hotels accommodating guests who are looking for the ultimate indulgence. With Park Hyatt London River Thames’ exceptional views, sophisticated design, memorable meeting spaces and second-to-none culinary experiences, we are confident that this hotel will exceed expectations.”
