German hotel brand Ruby Hotels has revealed plans for an additional eight hotels by 2020, including the group’s first UK property.
The group’s hotel collection comprises of six hotels in Germany and Austria, with the London Southbank Outpost hotel to launch in summer next year.
The brand’s ‘lean luxury’ concept makes use of centralisation, automation and modular construction, stripping away “traditional and outdated hotel features” to offer guests a five-star experience for the price of a budget hotel.
Ruby Hotels debuted the model with Vienna hotel Ruby Sofie in 2014, before opening two further hotels in Vienna, Ruby Marie and Ruby Lissi, as well as Ruby Lilly in Munich, Ruby Coco in Dusseldorf and Ruby Lotti in Hamburg.
A statement by the group read: “The ‘lean luxury’ model eschews hotel features typically associated with high-end properties, such as in-house restaurants, mini-bars and room service. These are replaced with communal areas serving an organic breakfast without the need of a chef or full kitchen, as well as ‘maxi bar’ vending machines and galley kitchens.
“Rooms are luxurious, while facilities such as a 24-hour bar, co-working spaces, a boutique movie theatre and a yoga studio appeal to the modern-day traveller.”
