Young’s Pubs has officially opened its new green energy pub with rooms, Teller’s Arms, in Farnham, Surrey.
Formerly a bank dating back to the 1930s, the space has been reimagined into a pub complete with nine boutique bedrooms, all-day dining and a rooftop terrace, opening from next summer, which will feature a weather-proof retractable roof.
The Teller’s Arms marks the second Young’s pub with rooms to run on green energy as the pub group continues its commitment to operate sustainably. Equipped with its own substation, 100% of electricity is generated sustainably to power all aspects of the pub, from heating and hot water to its kitchen.
The menu, curated by head chef Ryan Patterson, will use the “finest” seasonal British ingredients, with suppliers including Farnham Family Butchers, who source their produce sustainably within a 10-mile radius, including grass-fed beef.
Winter dishes highlights include buttermilk fried pheasant with plum chutney, grilled poussin with a celeriac puree and Madeira gravy, roasted Jerusalem artichoke, squash and truffle orzo, and 300g rib-eye steak.
The bar serves a selection of local craft and draught beers running alongside Young’s own ale, whilst there is also a concise list of signature cocktails and a range of wines by the glass and bottle from across the world.
The pub is also home to nine individually designed rooms. Jam-packed with nods to the building’s heritage, each room blends the original features of the neoclassical bank with “modern flourishes”, whilst also incorporating design elements inspired by the area, from floral furnishings as a nod to the wheat fields, to finishing touches from local suppliers including treat jars and crockery.
Teller’s Arms will also host a series of events for locals and visitors alike to get involved with, including quiz nights and cheese and wine evenings, whilst from January the return of Six Nations will be streamed on the pub screens.
