Premier Inn has announced its latest London opening, London Waterloo (Lambeth Road).
Premier Inn was attracted to North Lambeth by the strong year-round demand for hotel rooms from leisure travellers.
The hotel offers guests a choice of 137-latest format Premier Inn bedrooms, many with skyline views of the city, as well as a ground-floor restaurant space.
Several of the bedrooms are also the brand’s popular ‘enhanced’ Premier Plus bedrooms.
Premier Inn partnered with Lambeth Council’s employment service to recruit for the new opening, employing 25 team members to welcome guests, a quarter of whom are residents of the borough.
All the new team have benefited from the company’s in-house training courses and have access to its nationally recognised apprentice programmes.
Alex Flach, UK development director at Whitbread, said: “London is an exciting market for Premier Inn. It’s a growth opportunity and we are continuing to invest in new locations and address an undersupply of branded budget hotel rooms in the capital.
“With so much to see and do close to the new Premier Inn, I am sure the new hotel will be a hit with our guests and we are actively looking for opportunities in similar locations across the capital for our popular hotel brands.”
He added:“Across the city we [Premier Inn] have identified 40 locations in the capital where we want to grow ranging from hidden gems such as Lambeth North, where we didn’t previously have a presence, to parts of the capital where we are already represented and want to expand further.
“Wherever we locate, we bring secure, long-term employment opportunities as well the ability to support established local businesses and attractions through the year-round spending by our guests.”
