UK-based club owner and operator The Club Company has acquired its 18th country club, The Nottinghamshire Golf and Country Club, from local entrepreneur Alan Hardy for an undisclosed sum.
Situated in the heart of the Nottinghamshire countryside, the club is home to a 30-room boutique hotel, which brings the group’s hotel portfolio up to eight hotels.
The Nottinghamshire also boasts a “critically acclaimed” restaurant overlooking the courses, as well as an events and wedding destination.
The Club Company offers members and visitors an array of golf, health, leisure and wellbeing facilities, with this latest acquisition further supporting ongoing confidence in the golf and leisure industry, with an additional 10 million adult golfers playing the sport worldwide since 2016.
This latest acquisition also offers 36 “challenging” holes of golf and driving range set in 340 acres of rolling countryside.
With one of the largest ladies’ sections in the country, The Club Company stated that The Nottinghamshire aligns “perfectly” with its commitment to raise the profile of women’s golf and champion a more inclusive culture – a goal supported by the recent signing of the R&A’s Women in Golf Charter.
Richard Calvert, chief executive officer of The Club Company, said: “We are delighted to welcome The Nottinghamshire into The Club Company family. The club has an outstanding reputation and we are committed to building on Alan’s hard work by continuing to invest in the club and its facilities for the benefit of members and visitors alike.”
Hardy added: “It is with mixed emotions that I can confirm I’ve come to the end of my 14-year journey with The Nottinghamshire. I am proud that we’ve created something special in that time and now have a fantastic team of over 100 people. The Nottinghamshire now joins The Club Company as their 18th club, and I leave the club in their more than capable hands.”
