The Townhouse, a boutique hotel with a public bar and restaurant in the centre of Durham, has been brought to market for an asking price of £1.2m plus VAT.
The hotel, which is said to be well-regarded in the area and receives good reviews, offers a “stylish” reception area, a bar and a 30-cover restaurant on the ground floor.
The first floor benefits from a large, disused room which could be converted to either owners’ or managers’ accommodation if required.
Located on Old Elvet, the hotel is in close proximity to the castle and cathedral and surrounded by shops, cafes, bars and restaurants.
Mark Worley, director of hotels at Christie and Co, said: “This is a great opportunity for a buyer to acquire a stylish hospitality business in the centre of this beautiful and historic city, with its stunning castle, the picturesque River Wear, and the jaw dropping cathedral, a UNESCO World Heritage site, all within a short walk.
“As well as being a huge draw for tourism, Durham also boasts a highly regarded university which helps to further swell visitor numbers, and the Townhouse is perfectly positioned to take full advantage.”
