Ouse Bridge House, a 12-bedroom guest house on the north shore of Bassenthwaite Lake near Keswick, has been put up for sale with a freehold asking price of £875,000.

The Victorian property retains period features including bay windows, high ceilings and a large hallway and staircase.

Nine of the bedrooms are used for guest accommodation, with several offering views of the lake and surrounding countryside. The house also includes a breakfast room and attracts repeat trade throughout the year.

The business has been operated by the Richardson family since 2021. In a statement, they said: “We have thoroughly enjoyed our time at Ouse Bridge House.

“It is a beautiful place to live and work. During our time here, we have been delighted to welcome so many wonderful guests, many of whom return regularly, and we are always thrilled to learn how much everyone enjoys the location and the hospitality we offer.”

Graham Wilkinson, hotel agent at Christie and Co, who is handling the sale, said: “This is a great opportunity to acquire a larger-than-average lifestyle business, with enviable access to the great outdoors. Just a few minutes’ drive to Keswick, this established guest house boasts excellent reviews, and we encourage interested parties to get in touch for more information.”
