Travelodge has opened its new multimillion Cheshire flagship hotel in the heart of Chester city centre, the company’s 575th property.
Chester Central Bridge Street Travelodge, is Travelodge’s largest hotel in Cheshire and the first in the county to offer SuperRooms. Travelodge has called the new class of room the “first of its kind in the UK budget hotel market” and is designed around the “premium economy” concept familiar to airline users. It dials up the comfort factor for business and leisure customers who want the extra choice of a more premium room.
The 112-room flagship hotel which is an office conversion also features an on-site restaurant called the Bar Café, which offers a breakfast, dinner and bar menu. Chester Central Bridge Street Travelodge is managed by Lewis Johnson who joined the company eight years ago as a receptionist.
At the official opening event of the hotel, the company announced that Cheshire remains a “key target development area” for the company and it is actively looking for a further three hotel sites in: Warrington, Runcorn and a fourth hotel in Chester.
Collectively this trio expansion programme represents an investment of £18m for third party investors and will create around 100 new jobs.
Tony O’ Brien, Travelodge UK property director, said: “As Cheshire’s first budget hotel chain, we are delighted to mark our 29th anniversary of trading in the county by opening our new flagship hotel in the heart of Chester city centre.
“This opening which is our 14th hotel in the region celebrates how far the brand has grown and become symbolic in Cheshire for offering unbeatable value and making it affordable for business and leisure travellers to visit the region.”
He added: “As we look to the future, Cheshire remains a key growth area for Travelodge as visitor numbers are set to grow with momentum however there still remains a shortage of good quality and low cost hotels across the county. To meet this growing demand we are actively looking for hotel sites in Warrington, Runcorn and for a fourth hotel in Chester. This trio of hotels collectively represents an investment of £18m and will create around 100 new jobs.”
