Capella Hotel Group makes four senior appointments across Asia

In this episode we speak to brothers Alex and Adrien Grosjean, young entrepreneurs who have recently acquired The Residence Inn by Marriott Manchester Piccadilly. We discussed the reasons why Manchester’s visitor market is booming, and their decision to invest in this area, why they see extended-stay accommodation as a major opportunity in what is one of the UK's fastest-growing cities, how they plan to enhance their portfolio of hotels, and their advice for the next generation of hospitality disruptors.

Capella Hotel Group has appointed four new general managers across its Asian portfolio, including former Claridge’s general manager Paul Jackson at its Singapore property.

Capella Hotels said the latest appointments underscored its focus on strengthening leadership as luxury travel demand evolves across the region.

Jackson, who led the London hotel through a major renovation during nearly a decade in charge, will oversee operations at Capella Singapore, a 113-room resort on Sentosa Island. His career spans more than 20 years across international markets, with leadership posts at Mandarin Oriental hotels in Hong Kong, Bangkok and Sanya, as well as the Grand InterContinental Seoul and the Ritz Hotel London.

Christian Jaquier has been named general manager of Capella Ubud in Bali. He previously led Long Beach Mauritius and has held roles at AYANA Resort and Spa in Bali and several Ritz-Carlton properties in the United States. Born in Brazil, with Swiss and Chinese heritage, he speaks French and Portuguese and brings two decades of luxury hospitality experience.

In Macau, Andy Lio has been appointed general manager of Capella at Galaxy Macau. He was previously assistant vice-president for hotel operations at Raffles at Galaxy Macau, where he also acted as general manager, leading the property to secure a Forbes five-star rating in 2024. His career began in rooms operations and includes roles at Ritz-Carlton Macau and Galaxy Macau’s pre-opening team.

Meanwhile, Spanish-born Roman Angulo will lead Patina Tianjin, the first property in mainland China under Capella’s sister brand Patina Hotels and Resorts. Angulo was most recently resort manager at Capella Singapore, following senior roles at Four Seasons Beijing, Rosewood Beijing, Mandarin Oriental Hong Kong and Majestic Hotel and Spa Barcelona.

Patina Tianjin is due to open in the first half of 2026 in the city’s Italian Heritage District. The 145-room property will occupy 17 restored heritage buildings around private garden courtyards.
