Voco Zeal Exeter Science Park has been awarded a Gold rating by Green Tourism, the organisation’s highest accreditation for sustainability in hospitality.

The certification recognises businesses that demonstrate strong performance in areas such as energy efficiency, waste reduction, water conservation and community engagement

To achieve Gold, hotels must score over 80% across the assessment framework, which evaluates standards in people, places and planet.

As part of its sustainability efforts, the hotel has introduced a range of measures, from sourcing local and ethical products to deploying technologies aimed at reducing its carbon footprint.

Barnaby Kean, general manager at voco Zeal Exeter Science Park, said: “This award is a testament to the passion and commitment of our team. Achieving the Green Tourism Gold Award proves that sustainable hospitality is not only possible but essential for long-term success. Our aim is to show that environmental responsibility and exceptional guest experiences can go hand in hand.

“The Green Tourism Certification is widely acknowledged as a hallmark of green quality, bringing independent verification of environmental, social and managerial excellence. We are thrilled to be joining other leaders in sustainability and raising the profile of this hotel.”
