Cedar Court Hotels, Yorkshire’s largest independent hotel group, has appointed Colin Charles as director of people and culture as part of its focus on workforce development.

The group has increased investment in people initiatives over the past year, strengthening its internal culture and employer brand.

According to Cedar Court Hotels, this approach supports recruitment, retention and career progression, particularly for junior hospitality professionals in the region.

Charles has worked across the hospitality sector in hotels, stadiums, arenas and estates.

He has introduced Cedar Court’s first “culture summit” and launched a programme to recruit culture ambassadors across the group’s properties.

Cedar Court, which promotes what it calls “Proper Yorkshire Hospitality”, said the appointment reflects its commitment to building a “supportive workplace and maintaining its role in the region’s hospitality sector”.

Cedar Court Hotels has a collection of premium properties in Bradford, Harrogate, Huddersfield, and Wakefield

Charles said: “Our biggest asset is our people. It’s a privilege to elevate the people’s agenda to allow all our people to be bold and brave whilst remaining true to themselves.”
