Diglis House Hotel in Worcester sold to Spirit Ventures

The 33-bedroom Diglis House Hotel in Worcester has been sold to local entrepreneur Darren Eden, who will operate the property through his hospitality business, Spirit Ventures. 

The transaction, completed as a share sale for an undisclosed sum, transfers ownership from Seymour Hotels Limited, which has run the hotel since 1994.

Located beside the River Severn, the Grade II listed building dates to the early 1600s and was rebuilt and extended during the Georgian period. 

It later became the home of Edward Leader Williams, chief engineer to the Severn Navigation Commission. The hotel includes a bar, restaurant, event space for up to 140 guests, and riverside gardens.

Spirit Ventures already operates The Angel Hotel in Pershore and Colwall Park Hotel near Malvern. The sale was handled by Graham and Sibbald

The hotel will continue operating as normal during the transition to new ownership.

Julia Seymour of Seymour Hotels Limited said: “Over the years our vision was to transform this old inn into a hotel that contributed to the regeneration of the Diglis Basin area. It has been my honour to be a small part of this evolution to the City of Worcester. We take this opportunity to wish Darren and the Diglis team good fortune and success for the future.”

Eden added: “My team and I are pleased to welcome Diglis House Hotel and its staff. The hotel aligns with our existing operations, and we look forward to managing the next phase of its development.”

Martin Davis, partner at Graham and Sibbald, concluded: “It has been a pleasure working with Julia on the sale of Diglis House Hotel. The transaction highlights ongoing investor interest in hotel properties with established trading histories and recognised locations.”
