Y Seren Hotel and Restaurant has officially been opened in a former Llangunnor care home following a £3m investment, creating 55 jobs for the local area.

Owners Tudur and Andrea Williams converted the property into a 23-bed boutique hotel after closing the Brynderwen care home on the site in March 2024.

The building dates back to the 1890s and previously served as a hotel between 1979 and 1984. It was also the home of David Prosser, the former Archbishop of Wales.

Y Seren’s name was selected to reference the historic Star Inn, which was located near the property’s driveway.

Head chef Navi Mudaly was also appointed to lead the kitchen team.

While the restaurant and guest rooms are complete, work continues on an extension for weddings. Landscaping and a terrace are expected to be finished this spring.

Future developments planned for later this year include a gym and outdoor hot tub facilities.

Andrea Williams said: “Creating the hotel and restaurant was a big decision, but it was something that we really wanted to do. There really is nothing like this around here and it is in such a beautiful location.

“We have poured our hearts and souls into this project; we’ve put everything we’ve got into it. We have created the decor to make it welcoming and cosy because we didn’t want it to feel pretentious at all, we wanted everyone to feel welcome when they walk in. The reaction from guests has been wonderful.”
