Cairn Group appoints new GM at Hotel Indigo Edinburgh

Cairn Group-owned Hotel Indigo Edinburgh Princes Street has appointed Michael Nawrot as its new general manager.

Nawrot will manage the general running of the 64-bedroom property which is centrally located on Princes Street, checking in business travellers, tourists and local guests visiting the Scottish capital.

This includes the hotel’s award-winning grill and smokehouse Twenty Princes Street and neighbouring cocktail bar Juniper. Nawrot found his way into the hospitality industry working in hotel bars before moving into managerial roles, so is no stranger to these environments.

He is well-known on Scotland’s hotel scene with stints at a city centre hotel in Edinburgh where he was involved in the opening, and most recently leading the team as general manager of small boutique hotel The Raeburn, to achieve TripAdvisor’s Number 1 Traveller Ranked Hotel in the City.

He said: “I’ve worked in different parts of the UK and across Scotland but nothing beats the buzz of Edinburgh. Everyone in the industry knows about this hotel and its legacy so it’s great joining the team.

“There’s such a good feeling around the place as we’ve a real mix of guests from all over the world coming to experience the capital which we love being a part of. I’ll always have a soft spot for bars and restaurants having spent the early days of my career in that environment, so to be involved with some of the city’s most exciting food and drink destinations is an added bonus. ”

Cairn Group’s HR director, Richard Adams, added: “Michael has a strong eye for detail and brilliant knowledge of the city, making him the perfect candidate to lead the team. His passion and enthusiasm certainly shines through so it’s fantastic to welcome him to Cairn Group.”
