All 49 hotels in the group’s portfolio took part in the charity challenge for Jurys Inn and Leonardo Hotels UK, which saw its mascot Leo cycle from Cork, Ireland, to London throughout the summer covering 2,300 miles along the way
Jurys Inn and Leonardo Hotels across the country called on guests and local residents to help raise as much money as possible by taking part in fundraising activities including sponsored cycles and runs, car washes and bake sales, with all proceeds going to local charities in the area.
Exceeding the initial target of £35,000, regional activations helped raise a total of £37,340 for local causes across the UK. The final total raised by all local activations has been matched by the hotel company, contributing an additional £37,000, to be donated across the group’s chosen CSR partners and local charities.
Jason Carruthers, managing director of Jurys Inn and Leonardo Hotels UK & Ireland said: “At Jurys Inn & Leonardo Hotels, we believe in supporting our local communities and charities, as well as important national causes.
“We’re proud to have helped our mascot, Leo the Luggage, make his way across the UK and have enjoyed working with our guests to support local charities, whilst having some fun along the way.”
He added: “The incredible amount raised by our hotel teams meant that a substantial donation of money was made to both national and local charities and we’re proud to help such worthy causes make a difference with the outstanding work they carry out daily.”
