Plans approved for 276-bed hotel at Titanic Quarter

Belfast City Council has given consent to plans to develop a 276-bed hotel located at Hamilton Dock in the Titanic Quarter.

The decision to approve the application was made at January’s planning committee meeting, where all members gave the green light to the new “family-focussed hotel”.

The approved hotel will feature a rooftop bar with panoramic views of the Titanic Quarter, a gym and conference facilities alongside 100 family rooms and a mix of standard rooms and suites.

The new hotel will be developed by family-run hospitality group, JMK Group, which will be located just off the Queen’s Road in the Titanic Quarter.

John Kajani, founder and chairman of JMK Group said: “We are delighted with Belfast City Council’s decision to approve this exciting hotel development and are eager to progress our investment in the area.”

JMK Group will operate directly under franchise to an international brand. Construction on the hotel is expected to begin in spring 2020, with an anticipated opening date in summer 2021.

Kajani added: “Ideally located on Hamilton Dock, our hotel will welcome visitors of the Titanic Quarter, as well as those visiting the wider Queen’s island, waterfront and Belfast City.”

Brian Kelly, director of the project’s planning consultancy, Turley, added: “The approval of the new hotel on Hamilton Dock marks a major milestone for the ongoing development of the Titanic Quarter.

“We are pleased to see Belfast City Council support our client’s ambitions to deliver high calibre accommodation in the area and nurture further growth for the local tourism sector.”
