The George Hotel in Darlington has announced it has gone into administration.
The 33-bedroom hotel, which comprises a pub and restaurant, also operates a wedding venue with three function rooms with a capacity for up to 180 evening guests.
A statement published on the hotels Facebook page read: “It is with regret that I must confirm the hotel is now in administration and currently no-one is available to respond to phone calls, emails, or Facebook messages.
“I am sure that someone from the administration team will be in touch as soon as possible with regards to accommodation, weddings and events that have been booked, but unfortunately we do not have access to any details currently.”
The hotel dates back to the 1500s and is located near the River Tees in the Darlington village of Piercebridge.
