Macdonald Hotels & Resorts has been named Most Improved Brand for meetings and events following a renewed focus by the group on its conference offering.

According to the BDRC Continental’s MeetingsMetrix Report 2014, which surveyed corporate buyers and agents, Macdonald Hotels was the most improved brand in the UK hotel sector for meetings and events, with two of the group’s leading conference and event hotels having won individual BDRC Continental accolades for the year to September 2014.

Macdonald Burlington Hotel in Birmingham and Macdonald Manchester Hotel & Spa both achieved Gold VenueVerdict Accreditation status from the BDRC.

The BDRC Continental survey revealed that Macdonald Hotels was recognised for the strength of its food offering with its dedication to “provenance and traceability” and a commitment to sourcing the “freshest ingredients for conference menus.”

Gill Jackson, head of sales at Macdonald Hotels & Resorts, said: “We’re extremely pleased to have been named Most Improved Brand through the MeetingsMetrix Report. We’ve placed a lot of emphasis on driving a productive sales culture throughout the group and instigating a number of initiatives.

James Bland, Client Services Director at BDRC Continental, said: “The team at Macdonald Hotels & Resorts should be proud of what has been a terrific set of brand performance results, recording notable improvements in eight out of the ten elements measured and maintaining their position in the other two.

Hilton Hotels and Resorts was awarded the country’s number one brand for meetings and events.
