A brand new Travelodge hotel is set to be developed at the Intu Lakeside shopping centre in Grays, Essex.
Located overlooking the Alexandra Lake, the 74-bedroom, five-storey hotel will be operated by Travelodge under a 25-year lease agreement with Intu Lakeside. The property is expected to create 20 jobs.
The ground floor will be let separately by Intu and is expected to accommodate a 7,850 sq ft family-friendly restaurant, including a mezzanine.
Neil Short, Travelodge development manager, said: “We are delighted to be opening a new Travelodge hotel at one of Europe’s biggest shopping centres.
“With all of intu Lakeside’s fantastic retail, leisure and restaurant facilities on the hotel’s doorstep, this will be a superb place for our business and leisure customers to stay and will enable us to offer the best value accommodation in the area.”
As well as the new hotel, plans are in progress for the construction of a new £100m leisure quarter, which will see the arrival of further catering names, as well as leisure uses such as family entertainment venues and health & fitness facilities.
The overall investment at Intu Lakeside is part of a £1.3 billion development pipeline over 10 years by Intu.
