The Malmaison and Hotel du Vin chains of boutique hotels have been sold for £363m to Asian hotel firm Frasers Hospitality UK.
The two brands, named the Malmaison Hotel du Vin group (MHDV), were acquired from US-based private equity firm, KSL Capital Partners, which owns the 27-strong Village Urban Resorts along with The Belfry, a golf resort located in Sutton Coldfield.
The chains, which were reported to be up for sale earlier this year, comprise 29 boutique hotels with some 2,082 rooms across 25 cities in the UK. Both chains have enjoyed average occupancy of over 80% for the last three years.
Choe Peng Sum, CEO of Frasers Hospitality, said: “MHDV provides a tried and proven DNA in the boutique lifestyle segment for us. The purchase of Malmaison and Hotel du Vin perfectly complements our brand portfolio and gives Frasers Hospitality a platform to expand into the fastest growing hospitality sector.”
Pen sum added that the company is “looking forward” to future development in the UK, Europe and Asia.
