The 101-bedroom hotel will be operated by hotel management company Redefine BDL Hotels and features a restaurant and bar. Ibis said that the design of the property is inspired by Glasgow’s culture including the Clydeside shipyards and comedian Billy Connolly.
Inge Van Ooteghem, senior vice president of operations, economy and budget hotels, said: “We are delighted to open Ibis Styles Glasgow Centre George Square – a hotel that perfectly blends humour and creative flair throughout its design.
“Whether guests are here for business or leisure, they’ll experience the vibrancy and charm of Glasgow through the fabric of the hotel walls.”
He added that it is a very “exciting” time for Ibis Styles, with a further two hotel set to open this month in Haydock and Barnsley.
Ross Morrow, chief development officer at Redefine BDL, said: “It’s fantastic to see the hotel completed and welcoming its first guests. And as this is our first Glasgow property, it’s like a homecoming for Redefine BDL, as we’re based in the city.”
