A military charity has appealed to owners and managers of hotels to donate accommodation to British military personnel, following yesterday’s Remembrance Sunday.
Give us Time – a charity launched by Liam Fox, the Conservative MP for North Somerset, in 2012 – was set up in an effort to give one-week holidays to British soldiers in need of rest, rehabilitation and reconnection with their families.
Karen Hay, chief executive, said: “Remembrance Day is a timely reminder of the sacrifices military personnel have made and the impact serving in the military has had on their families.
“A simple holiday in a neutral environment, away from the responsibilities of day-to-day life, can have a transformative effect. The hosts that we currently work with can clearly see that they are making a real contribution to military personnel and their families, and it ties in with their corporate social responsibility.”
The charity, which has 1,000 soldiers and families registered on its website, said it is hoping to increase the number of partners it has in the hospitality sector.
