Super-budget brand EasyHotel has announced plans to open a hotel in Ipswich after conditionally acquiring a property in the town centre.
The purchase of the property – a former nightclub and grade II-listed property located on Northgate Street, close to the main retail area – is subject to the company obtaining planning consent.
EasyHotel said it plans to convert the building into a 94-room easyHotel, which it expects to open in 2017. The total cost of the project is expected to be around £4m.
Guy Parsons, CEO, said: “We are delighted to be investing in the vibrant cultural centre of Ipswich which is a gateway to the UK’s highly popular east coast. We expect to benefit from growing local business and tourism in the area as we extend our owned brand presence in the UK.”
EasyHotel currently owns three hotels located in London, Glasgow and Croydon.
