Boutique hotel firm Alexander Hotels and Utopia Spas has announced the acquisition of Barnett Hill Venue in Guildford, Surrey.

Originally owned and managed as a conference facility, the Queen Anne-inspired property will now undergo a full renovation programme including all bedrooms and public areas.

Barnett Hill, which currently features 19 conference suites, 58 bedrooms and two private garden lodges, will remain fully functional while renovations take place while also updating its afternoon tea and sunday lunch offering.

Tim Hall will continue his role as general manager of the property, with director of operations, Ian Heath, overseeing the hotels renovation project.

Owners Peter and Deborah Hinchcliffe, said: “We have recently celebrated 21 years of Alexander Hotels and our passion for our properties and the industry continues to grow.

“The moment we first saw Barnett Hill, we knew this property would work for us, it showcases considerable potential to be an award winning, iconic hotel in Surrey and the UK and we are truly delighted to start a new journey with this property.”

Alexander Hotels and Utopia Spa’s group currently operates three other properties in its portfolio; including the five-star Alexander House Hotel in Sussex; four-red star Langshott Manor in Surrey; and the four-star Rowhill Grange Hotel in Kent.
